The kit includes two snap rings for the kick idle gear and two tab-style lock washers used on the counterbalance shaft and clutch hub. These parts help prevent important engine components from moving or loosening during operation.
Snap rings can lose tension or become distorted when they are removed. Locking tabs weaken after being bent during disassembly and should not be bent back into position and reused. Installing fresh retaining hardware is inexpensive protection against preventable internal engine damage.
