Application and Purpose
The bearings support the rear axle inside the carrier and allow it to rotate. The seals help protect the bearing area from dirt and moisture.
This kit services the rear axle carrier. It is separate from the swingarm pivot bearing kit.
When to Replace Axle Bearings
Inspect the bearings if the axle develops excessive play, rough rotation or bearing noise. Check the axle’s bearing surfaces, carrier bores and internal spacer during disassembly. New bearings will not correct damaged supporting components.
Installation
Follow Yamaha’s procedures for bearing removal, seal orientation and axle assembly. Use installation methods that avoid loading the bearing through its rolling elements.
