Description
Yamaha Blaster Clutch Kit – EBC DRC Complete Kit
Restore smooth, dependable clutch performance with the Yamaha Blaster clutch kit from EBC. The EBC DRC Series Complete Clutch Kit provides the major components needed to replace a worn, slipping or poorly engaging Yamaha Blaster clutch.
Unlike a friction-plate-only replacement, this complete kit includes new friction plates, steel separator plates and heavy-duty clutch springs. Replacing all three components together helps restore the clutch pack to the proper stack height and eliminates worn parts that can contribute to clutch slippage.
This kit fits every 1988–2006 Yamaha YFS200 Blaster, including the 2006 Blaster Special Edition.
Complete Yamaha Blaster Clutch Kit
A complete clutch rebuild should involve more than installing new friction plates over worn steel plates and tired springs. Heat, wear and repeated use can affect every part of the clutch pack.
This Yamaha Blaster clutch kit includes:
- Complete set of EBC friction plates
- Complete set of steel separator plates
- Heavy-duty clutch springs
- Stack-height-controlled clutch components
- Direct-fit replacement parts
- Components for one complete clutch rebuild
The result is a complete replacement package suitable for restoring an original Yamaha Blaster or upgrading a machine used for trail riding, racing or modified-engine applications.
EBC DRC Friction Plates
EBC manufactures its DRC friction plates with alloy-impregnated clutch facings designed to resist swelling, excessive wear and heat-related damage. The friction material provides smooth engagement while allowing the rider to control clutch take-up.
Proper clutch modulation is especially important on a Yamaha Blaster used for tight trails, hill climbs, racing or technical riding. Smooth engagement makes it easier to control how power is transferred to the transmission and rear wheels.
Pin-Planished Steel Clutch Plates
The included steel separator plates feature a pin-planished surface. This process produces small indentations in the steel that help spread transmission oil across the clutch surfaces.
Improved oil distribution helps lubricate and cool the clutch pack. It can also reduce the heat buildup that contributes to glazing, premature wear and clutch fade.
Installing new steel plates also prevents previously overheated or warped plates from being reused with new friction plates.
Heavy-Duty Yamaha Blaster Clutch Springs
This kit includes EBC heavy-duty clutch springs designed to provide approximately 10–15% more clamping pressure than standard springs. Stronger springs help keep the clutch plates firmly engaged under load.
Clutch springs naturally weaken after repeated compression and heat cycles. Weak springs can allow a clutch to slip even when the friction plates still appear usable. Replacing the springs during the rebuild helps provide consistent clamping pressure throughout the life of the new clutch.
The heavier spring rate may create a slightly firmer clutch-lever pull.
Signs Your Yamaha Blaster Needs a Clutch Kit
Consider replacing the clutch if your Blaster displays any of these symptoms:
- Engine RPM rises without a matching increase in speed
- Clutch slips under hard acceleration
- Machine struggles to transfer power under load
- Engagement feels inconsistent
- Clutch adjustment no longer corrects the problem
- Transmission oil contains excessive clutch material
- Friction plates are glazed, burned or worn
- Steel plates are warped, discolored or damaged
Other problems can produce similar symptoms. Inspect the clutch cable, actuator mechanism, pressure plate, inner hub and clutch basket while the clutch is disassembled.

Yamaha Blaster Clutch Installation
Soak the new friction plates in the correct transmission oil before installation. This allows the friction material to absorb oil and helps prevent dry startup damage.
During installation:
- Confirm the correct plate order.
- Inspect the clutch basket fingers for notching.
- Inspect the inner hub and pressure plate for wear.
- Check the clutch cable and actuator mechanism.
- Follow the Yamaha service manual torque specifications.
- Adjust the clutch mechanism and cable after assembly.
Do not use automotive motor oil containing friction modifiers. Use an oil suitable for a wet-clutch motorcycle or ATV transmission.
