In most cases, if you don't already own this equipment, the cost of purchasing it makes "Do IT Yourself" engine building cost prohibitive to say the least. There are always alternative methods to assemble mechanical devices but an engine is not the place to cut corners. As in all things in life, there's a right way, and a wrong way.
